Director of Market Engagement

ROMTech is now looking for a Director of Market Engagement to lead the strategy and execution of our outbound engagement engine — managing a team of Market Engagement Specialists who serve as the front line of our growth efforts. 

This role is responsible for building a world-class lead engagement and qualification motion, ensuring top-of-funnel leads are proactively contacted, nurtured, and converted into sales-ready opportunities for our commercial teams. You’ll be a strategic team builder, lead generating executive, and pipeline architect — sitting at the intersection of Marketing and Sales, with a direct line of impact on revenue. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Own the outbound contact strategy across all target segments (providers, payers, health systems, partners) 
  • Design, test, and refine call/email/touchpoint sequences to maximize connect and conversion rates 
  • Define and continuously improve the “sales-ready” lead criteria in partnership with Sales Leadership 
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of high-performing Market Engagement Specialists (SDRs) 
  • Set and track daily/weekly/monthly activity metrics: dials, connects, qualification rate, handoff success 
  • Provide coaching, call reviews, and playbook refinement to improve performance across the team 
  • Ensure MQLs are followed up with quickly and efficiently 
  • Monitor performance by channel and lead source 
  • Optimize lead flow processes and handoffs to Sales  
  • Partner closely with the Sales team to ensure smooth lead transitions and feedback loops 
  • Collaborate with Marketing to align messaging, personas, and campaign timing with outreach efforts 
  • Coordinate with Sales Ops / IT to ensure CRM hygiene, lead routing, and accurate reporting 
  • Own top-of-funnel KPIs and reporting dashboards (leads contacted, conversion %, time-to-engagement) 
  • Forecast SDR contribution to pipeline and adjust team size, territories, and cadences as needed 
  • Share insights with Marketing and Sales leadership to inform campaign strategy and targeting 

Success Metrics 

  • Volume of qualified sales-ready leads passed to Sales 
  • Lead-to-meeting conversion rate 
  • Time-to-first-touch after lead is generated 
  • SDR activity metrics (calls/day, talk time, connect rate, etc.) 
  • Sales acceptance rate of SDR-qualified leads 
  • % of pipeline influenced by Market Engagement team 

Skills & Abilities 

  • Proven leadership of SDR or inside sales teams in a B2B, healthcare, or tech-driven environment 
  • Deep understanding of outbound engagement tactics, CRM workflows, and lead qualification frameworks 
  • Strong coaching and performance management skills 
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally across Marketing, Sales, and RevOps 
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to improve processes and output 
  • Proficient in AI tools and prompt engineering to enhance outreach personalization, list building, and call prep 

Experience Requirements 

  • 5+ years of experience in Sales leadership or B2B Demand Gen roles 
  • Experience in medtech, SaaS, or healthcare marketing preferred 

Familiarity with CRMs and sales enablement tools (e.g., Outreach, SalesLoft, Gong)
