The VA Challenge
Growing Surgical Volume Is Creating Pressure beyond the Operating Room
Limited On-Site PT Capacity
High patient volume, staffing constraints, and limited appointment availability can create bottlenecks in post-operative rehabilitation.
Increased Reliance on Community Care
When internal capacity is unavailable, Veterans may need to receive therapy through outside providers, creating additional coordination, cost, and visibility challenges.
Veteran Travel Burden
Veterans may live far from VA facilities or face transportation, mobility, caregiver, and scheduling barriers during the earliest stages of recovery.
Reliance on Caregivers
Traveling to on-site PT appointments can place an unnecessary burden on loved ones who are caring for our Veterans after surgery.

Bring Structured Orthopaedic Rehabilitation into the Veteran’s Home
How It Works
Expand Capacity
Provide structured rehabilitation at home without requiring a proportional increase in VA treatment rooms, appointment slots, or on-site staffing.
Improve Access
Help Veterans begin and continue rehabilitation despite distance, transportation limitations, or local PT availability.
Maintain Visibility
Surgeons and PTs can see therapy activity, adherence, motion, pain, and recovery progression between in-person visits.
From Prescription to Recovery
The PortableConnect System fits into the VA’s existing care pathway, helping Veterans recover at home while keeping clinicians informed.
You Prescribe
Identify eligible TKA and Ortho Surgery patients. Process the referral in accordance with your facility’s policies.
We Deliver & Educate
A certified PortableConnect System delivery agent delivers the system to the patient’s home, sets it up in a safe location, and educates the patient on how to get started.
Veterans Recover at Home
Patients complete 3-5 guided rehabilitation sessions per day for 30 or 42 days.
Recovery Progression
Over time the sessions increase the patient’s knee range of motion and strengthen quadriceps through resistance.
Complete Care
Once the rehabilitation program is complete, the system is picked up from the Veteran’s home.
Built for Better Access and Better Recovery. Why the PortableConnect System?
The PortableConnect System helps VA orthopaedic programs extend rehabilitation beyond the clinic through evidence-backed care, seamless integration with existing workflows, and greater visibility into each Veteran’s recovery journey.

Designed to Expand Reach and Build Around Existing PT Capacity.
"PortableConnect gives appropriate TKA patients a structured recovery pathway at home, allowing VA rehabilitation teams to reserve in-person appointments for Veterans who need more intensive care. Instead of replacing physical therapy, it extends the reach of existing clinical resources."
